Aquinas Y8 basketball team claimed the Vince Halloran Shield after a 21-10 victory over St Ronan’s Lurgan at the Lisburn Rackets Club on Tuesday 24th June.

Having won three out of four pool games, Aquinas came into the final determined to overcome an 18-17 defeat earlier in the day to the mid Ulster school.

Aquinas took a commanding eight point lead going into the second half.   The game was scrappy as both teams were tiring visibly after their pool games.  At the start of the second half St Ronans’s looked as if they were mounting a comeback but some good defence and a couple of scores kept Aquinas just out in front enough and claim the Ulster title.

With a huge squad of 19 players, Mr McAufield and Mr Connolly were able to get everyone some court time throughout the day.
