Shared Education at Stormont
The Aquinas students participating in the Shared Education Project joined their counterparts from Wellington at Stormont this week. The Stormont Education Officers packed in a variety of activities to challenge and motivate the students. As the event coincided with the centenary of the 1918 Suffrage Act the pupils were treated to a debate with a difference!! The Aquinas and Wellington girls were more than willing to reenact the protests carried out by Women in the early 20th Century. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the Education Officers at Stormont and their colleagues at Politics Plus were extremely complimentary about the conduct of all the students involved.
The Stormont visit marks the start of the second stage of the Shared Education Citizenship module. After half-term the students will complete their Citizenship lessons on Conflict and they will have further opportunities to work with their peers in Wellington in the summer term.
