On Thursday 9th November, the following year 8 pupils went to Wellington College and took part in the 12th Northern Irish heat for the Lit Quiz: Octavia Shively-Blinn, Aoife Kerr, Caoimhe Lavery, Holly Horwood, Maria Bergin, Laura McMahon, Aoife Byrne, and Ciara Cunningham.

The eight girls had great fun and this was an amazing experience for them, competing with 22 other schools! The award winning Quiz Master, Mr Wayne Mills, comes from New Zealand and has expanded this Quiz to Canada, USA, Hong King and Singapore.  Moreover, the Quiz stimulates wide reading, improves vocabulary and content knowledge and importantly encourages students to read for pleasure, creates an awareness of genre, authors and titles.

Overall, the team acquitted itself brilliantly against stiff competition from many other schools and we were delighted to have come 4th in the costume category and won book prizes for best dressed fictional characters. Well done to Laura McMahon and Ciara Cunningham for designing their own costumes as the Twins of Jacqueline Wilson “Double Act”.
