14 swimmers represented the school in the Swim Ulster Schools Cup and Championships in Bangor Aurora on the 21 and 22nd October. The pinnacle of Ulster School swimming had over 1500 competitors over the two days.

For a number of our swimmers it was their first experience of a gala yet not one of our swimmers were overawed by the capacity crowd and all swam their hearts out for the school. On Saturday Maria Sherry, Daniel Quinn, James McLoughlin and Holly McGonigle battled it out in the 11-12y age group. At the end of a gruelling afternoon session Katie Madden, Eve McGibbon and David Leggett had recorded season best times that meant qualification for the Dublin Schools Championship in the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin. Hard work was rewarded when Aquinas collected a gold and silver medal in the afternoon session.

On Sunday morning Ella Baxter, Niamh Carron, Brendan Delaney and Matthew Mawhinney pushed their bodies to the limit in fierce competition. On Sunday afternoon Niamh Leggett, Poppy McGonigle and Maeve Sherry showed great determination in the final session of the weekend.

The team can be proud of how they performed over the weekend. They showed determination and composure and were a credit to the school. Well done!
