Co Down Districts for Cross Country took place in Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor. The change in venue made it more challenging and exciting for runners this year. 19 students represented Aquinas in the Mini, Minor, Junior and Intermediate categories.

A number girls just missed out on qualifying for the Ulsters, finishing just outside the qualifying position of 15th.  Olivia Morrow 19th in the Junior girls race, Iseult Fahy 21st in the Minor girls race and Kate O’Hare who picked up an injury finished21st in the Mini girls race.

The boys not to be outdone competed and finished well. The Minor boys were unlucky to qualify as a team. 4 boys have now qualified for the Ulsters having qualified from the Districts. Senan O’Rourke Year 8 came 13th in the Mini boys race, his first race for Aquinas. Declan Arkins and Fergus McGrady ran strong races in the Minor boys race finishing 12th and 15th respectively. Conor Doran just missed out on qualifying in 17th position. James Gracey ran a good steady race against Year 11 and 12 runners for 6000m. He finished 13th and represents Aquinas in the Ulsters.

Congratualtions to all our runners and good luck to the boys in the Ulsters later this week.
