soccer-2016-2

A much changed Aquinas team defeated St Malacy’s 4-2, in what was a very strong performance, at Solitude on Tuesday. Man of the match and captain, Jack Toner tortured the opposition defence, scoring two goals in the process. Lorcan Swail and Dylan Wilson rounded off two fine personal performances by adding to the tally.

Aquinas had surged into a comfortable 3 goal lead very early on but, despite dominating, allowed St Malachy’s back into the game with two goals. From that point a game that should have been completely wrapped up became a tense, close affair. Dylan Wilson’s assured finish in the last minute of the game, however, put the outcome beyond doubt and killed off any chance of the opponents completing what looked like the most unlikeliest of comebacks.

Having made a massive ten changes from the fifteen man squad that defeated Castlederg comprehensively two weeks ago, team manager Mr McGrath has a huge selection headache ahead of the upcoming games in the NI Cup and the Belfast Cup.

Well done lads!
