Senior Gaelic Football: Brother Nolan Final
The Nolan Cup team have qualified for the Ulster Colleges final for the second year in a row. With ten of last year’s team still playing, they are hoping to make amends for the defeat against Donaghmore. Having finished second in the group behind hot favourites for the competition De La Salle Downpatrick, they have made steady progress beating: Edmund Rice College, St Patrick’s College Bearnageeha and CBS Glen Road in the group games. Lagan College were up next in the quarter final and sterling performances from Eoin Nagle, Phelim Lennon and Michael Brown ensured victory. In the semi-final, they met Colaiste Feirste who put up a great fight and made life very difficult for the Aquinas boys. A Ronan Quinn goal followed by a range of points from Lorcan Fahy and Eoin Nagle gave the team a win in tough, wintery conditions.
The final will be played on Friday 12th February at Medowbank Leisure Centre, Magherfelt, throw in 4.30pm. They will face Lumen Christi College Derry, who beat De La Salle Downpatrick in the semi-final with nine points to spare. A tough ask, but a massive opportunity to bring the Brother Nolan Cup to the Ravenhill Road.
