Girls into Engineering 2015
On 9th December, Queen’s University and Caterpillar organised a program of events to give year 11 girls an insight into the type of work and opportunities available in engineering.
Throughout the day the girls met and talked with female engineers from Caterpillar and the Faculty of Engineering. They also participated in problem solving activities like building a geodesic dome, discussing biomechanical joint replacements, simulating landing an airplane, programming a robotic arm and testing a segway in the EPIC lab.
This was a very interactive day for the girls who rose to every challenge. Their teamwork ensured they built the best geodesic dome while the individual performances on the flight simulator and the Segway need a bit more practice.
