They had to cook a meal for two people using local ingredients with a budget of £7.50. They made garlic prawns with home made chilli mayonnaise and rustic bread followed by lasagne, sun dried tomato and Parmesan bread, salad and potato wedges.

Both pupils are in Year 11 and currently study GCSE Home Economics. They enjoyed taking part in the final, in Abbey Community School even though they were nervous. Joseph enjoys cooking but prefers baking and he is most proud of making his own mayonnaise. Niamh has now mastered pasta and made her own lasagne using flour and eggs. The judges commended their skills, creativity and presentation. They narrowly lost the first place by one mark and we congratulate their success in achieving second place, well done.
