3.30pm on Thursday May 8th marked the last day for our Year 14 students with a rendition of Auld Lang Syne followed by the countdown to the last bell. Teachers and many junior pupils looked on at the emotional scenes in the Mall as our young people bade farewell to their school.

Later in the evening, as is tradition has it, we had the Mass of Celebration where families can join their Year 14s in seeing them make the transition from secondary to tertiary education. Fr Grant, Mr Kelly and the Head Boy and Head Girl spoke eloquently about the good example these young people made on their junior counterparts and the positive impact they’ve had on Aquinas as a whole. As Fr Grant said, our pupils never really “leave” Aquinas, they’re always part of this school community and part of what makes our school great. Parents, pupils and teachers enjoyed refreshments and some social interaction in the Mall afterwards.

We take this opportunity to wish all our Year 14s every success in their exams and whatever the future holds for them.
