The Sixth Form football team recorded a comprehensive victory over hot favourites Ashfield Boys to reach the semi-final of the Belfast U-19 Cup. Goals at the start of each half from first Chris Kelly and then Joseph O’Sullivan provided Aquinas with an advantage they never looked likely to relinquish. Chris Kelly went on to bag a hat-trick with his third a cracking curling shot from fully 25 yards. This strike was matched by a volley from Matthew McCamley in the first half from a similar range. The work rate of all involved on the day was outstanding but particular mention must go to Riccardo Quattromano who defended from the front, constantly harassing the Ashfield defenders and providing space and time for his teammates. Dead ball expert Eoin McCall also deserves a mention. After coming off the bench in the closing stages he almost made it seven when his Pirlo-esque strike forced the Ashfied net minder into a fine save. Well done to all 19 players involved in the day and hopefully this form can continue in the upcoming semi-final. Good luck lads!!
