Ash Wednesday services had the launch of the annual Trocaire Lenten campaign.

This year the Lent focus county is Malawi and the Lenten theme is the Global Water Crisis. Trócaire’s 2014 campaign will demonstrate how, with the help of the Irish public, we are supporting communities to challenge their local governments to gain access to the water services they need and have a right to, in order to lead a dignified life.

Aquinas students heard from Patrick Namakhoma who is director of the Catholic Development Commission of Malawi (CADECOM).  CADECOM are Trócaire’s largest livelihoods partner in the country and are helping with the districution to funds in Malawi around water. The Aquinas pupils are challenged to raise funds to help with bore holes in Malawi which is one of the poorest countries in Africa.
