Pi Day 2014 in Aquinas was a great success.
One hundred and twenty pupils and Ms J Connolly gathered in the Library to celebrate the special day for their favourite number.
Dominic Harkin and Ryan McClory (14F) provided us with our musical interlude, which consisted of a rendition of their fabulous Pi Poem set to bongo drums and ukulele. Long-time Pi Day and Maths enthusiast, Matthew Nixon 14J, phoned us from France to take part in the Pi Memorisation Challenge. We will miss Matthew so much next year when he leaves to read Mathematics at University: best of luck, MN!
With over thirty pupils competing in the Mental Maths Challenge alone, the atmosphere was electric and the crowd shared their love for all things Mathematical. Ms J Connolly would like to thank the pupils who helped her make Pi Day happen, especially since all the proceeds go to Trócaire. Well done, Mathletes!
