Careers Insight Evening – a great success
Over one hundred and sixty organisations from the world of work and higher education came to Aquinas on the evening of Thursday 27 February. The variety of stalls and Keynote speakers from the likes of Invest NI, the BBC, Queen’s and the Ulster Universities, surgeons, fire fighters, scientists, engineers, lawyers et al all made this a highly informative event for the five hundred students and their parents who came to consider the myriad of careers options available.
There were many eminent people in the building from Belfast’s Lord Mayor, who was an invited guest of the Irish Department (Roinn na Gaeilge), to guest of the American Consulate and Motown legend, Mary Wilson (ex of the Supremes)!
The school was indeed grateful to all the contributors who helped make the evening a success and the Careers Department also acknowledged the efforts of teachers in drawing the companies into the school in the first instance.
Finally, as the evening drew to a close, Mary Wilson gave a motivational talk entitled “Dare to Dream”. Her talk was laced with many of the Supremes Greatest Hits and her audience of pupils, staff and parents left the school in good form and well informed.
