Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award Expeditions
In November ten teams of year 12 pupils successfully completed the final part of their Silver Award expeditions. Over two afternoons, the teams presented their reviews of the expedition ventures to an audience of parents, expedition assessors, staff, leaders and fellow participants.
This year pupils had the opportunity to participate in a walking expedition in the Mournes or a canoeing expedition on Strangford Lough. During the spring and summer terms, the teams trained and prepared for their September qualifying expedition with after school classes each week and practice expeditions in May and June. The weather was very kind to all throughout the qualifying expeditions and but for one or two twists and turns, everyone successfully completed their venture.
The year 12 pupils are now working to complete the other three sections of their Silver award. Congratulations to all the year 12 pupils who successfully completed their expeditions in 2013.
