Year 8 Camogie Blitz
24th October- Year 8 Camogie Blitz at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.
Seven year 8 pupils and three year 9 pupils attended and participated in a well organised and well structured blitz during a sunny dry day at Jordanstown University.
Lara Mc Stay was named captain and led her team to two victories, one defeat and one draw. The girls showed terrific skill and passion and as a result were victorious against St.Genevieves Belfast and St.Malachys Castlewellan. The girls battled hard throughout the day but St.Pauls Kilrea were simply too strong on the day, striking in the air for most of the match making it too tough for the Aquinas girls to spoil their game. However the Aquinas girls proved that they don’t just give up and they drew 0-0 against St.Marys Limavady resulting in the girls finishing top of their group.
During the matches the girls were given a tour of the UlsterSportsAcademy at JordanstownUniversity. They were able to witness and experience where top athletes train and have rehabilitation sessions.
Overall it was a very enjoyable day for the girls and a great achievement for them to experience at their first blitz. Many congratulations again to all of the girls for playing so well in their first blitz representing AquinasGrammar School.
Training continues Thursdays after school from 3.45pm to 4.45pm
