Golf Season ends in narrow defeat!
The 2012/13 golf season ended in a narrow defeat at Holywood Golf Club, as Our Lady and St. Patrick’s Knock progressed to the knock-out stages of the Darren Clarke School Golf League. With a comprehensive victory and a narrow defeat prior to this game Aquinas began with high hopes of topping their group for the first time. Despite battling performances from debutants Lorcan Fahy and Eoin Nagle, Knock proved too strong on the day. Emmett Curran in his final game at this level, secured a half match with victory on the final hole and Mark Doherty controlled his game from the outset before securing victory on the 17th. Team captain Conall McHugh and Andrew McClurg were both involved in tight matches, with Conall only losing out on the last hole. Rory Delap, hoping to secure back to back victories was cruelly robbed of a deserved half point by a 30 foot putt on the final green.
All those who have represented Aquinas this term have done so with a great attitude and impressive etiquette. A number of players remain eligible for next season and with continued practice over the summer months, Aquinas could be a formidable unit in 2013/14.
