Mark Doherty competed at the Ulster Youth Swimming Championships over the St. Patricks weekend.

Mark Doherty

He had successful personnel best swims in both the 200 IM and 400 IM but saved his best for the 100 and 200 Back Stroke achieving silver medals at both distances, only narrowly beaten by the current All Ireland Champions in both events. His 100 Back Stroke proved very exciting with the finish going to the final touch, unfortunately Mark lost out on the Ulster title by 0.09 sec.

He now looks forward to the Irish Division 1 Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin later this year. This will be a difficult step up for Mark as the criteria has recently changed which means he will be required to swim up a year.

I’m sure he’s up for the challenge.
