The Aquinas team of Jordan Kennedy (Capt.), Andrew McClurg, Chris Kelly, Emmett Curran, Matthew McCrudden, Conor Leggett and Simon Atkinson recorded a narrow victory in their first group game in the Darren Clarke Schools Golf League. The boys edged out St. Mary’s 4-3 at Dunmurry Golf Club in what turned out to be an epic struggle. St. Mary’s main men performed brilliantly giving Aquinas experienced opening pair few opportunities. The game swung back towards Aquinas thanks to a brilliant performance on his debut from Emmett Curran, who led throughout and finished with a 3 and 1 victory. The overall outcome hinged then on the final match with Matthew McCrudden trailing by 2 with 4 holes to play. Unbelievably though Matthew parred Stroke Index 1 and followed this with back to back birdies. He closed the match out with a half on 18 to give Aquinas a memorable victory. All of the players deserve credit for their attitude and effort on the day. Well done lads!!
