You need the Martin Luther booklet and the Counter-Reformation handout or notes for this revision
- You should be able to write about the following dates/events in Martin Luther’s life. Also be able to analyse why they were so important.
- 1510
- 1517
- 1520
- 1521
2. Write out and learn definitions of words/terms such as
- Indulgences
- Reformation
- Counter-Reformation
- 95 theses
- Indulgences
- Excommunication
- Heretic
- Revise the 3 key aspects of the Counter-Reformation ie. Council ofTrent; Inquisition; Society of Jesus
- The table comparing Catholic and Lutheran beliefs should be known
Section B
- Learn the timeline of the Spanish Armada
- Reasons for rivalry betweenEnglandandSpainshould be known eg. trade, religion etc.
- You need to know the meanings of reliable and useful. A reliable source is one that you can trust or believe. Biased sources are not reliable.
A useful source is helpful. Most sources are useful in some way, including biased sources (as long as you are aware that they are biased). When deciding how useful a source is you should note what you’re being asked to use it for. There are usually limits to the usefulness of a source.
