Aquinas U16 basketball update
Aquinas U16 basketball team will attempt to qualify for the All-Ireland league semi finals when they take part in one of four pools being held over the weekend.
Just before Christmas Aquinas lost out in the National Cup semi final to St Clement’sLimerick, a game which according to Mr McAufield, ‘Aquinas didn’t really come out for the second half’.
This weekend gives the boys a chance to regain the form that had seen them undefeated prior to their trip to the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. However, there is no doubt that any one of the four teams in the group could advance to the semi finals as it contains four regional winners. ‘Winning your first game in the pool is a must to be in c
ontention later on in the day’.
The boys started back training this week and will have their last session on Saturday morning when Aquinas hosts its Open Day. Most of the boys have had training with their club teams so this week they have been concentrating on getting a lot of shots up.
The action takes place at Our Lady’s & St Patrick’s College Knock on Sunday with the first game tipping off at 9.30am.
