During the Summer, Year 14 student Grainne O’Hare was awarded a Bursary by the Nuffield Foundation.  This scheme enables students to work alongside professional Scientists, Technologists, Engineers and mathematicians.   Grainne gained a four week placement at AES Kilroot Power Station where she worked with Engineers on a project developing the Feed Water Treatment at the site.

The culmination of the placement was the Nuffield Foundation Celebration event at the Whitla Hall at  Queen’s University of Belfast in September, at which Grainne presented her work and was awarded a CREST Gold Award for her successful completion of the project.
