On Monday 3rd October, the Year 8’s were treated to a feast of fiction, poetry and drama , when Dave Cryer visited our school to celebrate Childrens Book Week (3rd – 9thOctober).

Dave is a writer whose unpublished children’s novel ‘The Seven Ages of Jack’ was shortlisted for the Fidler Award and  his play ‘Our House’ was performed in The Crucible Theatre,Sheffieldwhilst Guardian Online has published over 50 of his haikus.

In a very interactive and lively session Dave introduced the children to several new books and some old favourites with plenty of drama and poetry thrown in for good measure.  He was inundated with volunteers to perform scenes from the books and the session really helped to bring the books alive. Well done Year 8!
