AS Business Studies Educational Visit to Disneyland Paris
The recent AS Business Studies visit to Disneyland Paris was a valuable and interesting seminar-based education programme. This programme provided the opportunity for students to experience and learn about business in a highly stimulating, real life environment from leading practitioners in their fields.
Students gained an insight into the business practices of one of the world’s most famous global organisations, as it looks to maintain its market leading position and meet the challenges of the current economic environment.
During the three education sessions, with the help of Disney managers and staff, students learned how the following curriculum areas are put into practice at Disneyland Paris:
- Marketing
Marketing mix, the four Ps, SWOT analysis, participant partners and synergy
Market Research – Primary and secondary research, personal interviews, focus groups, analysis of results.
- Finance
Financial overview, Management and financial accounting, Cash flow management, Monitoring and evaluation.
- Communications
Internal and external communications, electronic communications, designing and maintaining a website, e-commerce.
- Customer Service
Standard guidelines, guest expectations, barometer of satisfaction, handling customer complaints
- Human Resources
Human resource management, job satisfaction, recruitment and training, management theories.
The seminars were delivered through multimedia presentation techniques, case studies, specially filmed video footage, guest question and answer sessions, student assignment projects and other learning tools.
Students and Staff stayed in Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne and were able to experience all the excitement of both the Walt Disney Studios Park and the Disneyland Park during their three day visit.
