Orchestra performs at the Carol Service 2010

Last monday night, the 13th of December, we held our annual Carol Service in a full to capacity Assembly Hall where we celebrated the coming festive season with music, readings, stories and poems. More than 170 Aquinas students were involved on the night itself and they really helped to create a very magical and spiritual atmosphere, in keeping with this very special occasion. They made us feel very proud.

Musical items were provided by our Folk Group, Junior, Senior and Chamber Choirs and congregational carols were beautifully accompanied by our Orchestra. Highlights of the evening were undoubtedly our three soloists: Year 8 pupil Tom O’Kelly wowed the audience with his amazing rendition of The Snowman: Walking in the Air sensitively accompanied by a small instrumental ensemble and Year 14 students, Ciara Power, soprano, and Brian McAlea, baritone, performed a gorgeous arrangement of Silent Night  and the nation’s favourite carol O Holy Night respectively. Both were brilliantly accompanied by our Chamber Choir.

A big thanks to our accompanist, past pupil, Richard Gault and to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening. We are grateful for all your support and look forward to seeing you at our Spring Concert in April.
