The DLT was alive, Friday 7th October- to the sound of Aquinas poets during our ‘Open Mic’ session!

All week pupils from junior and senior school were penning their poems, editing their metaphors, and sharpening their similes…

And what better way to round off the week than with the poets reciting their works to pupils and staff alike to a packed house.

The recitals were compered by Year 10 pupil, Karen Hesketh and were intertwined with fantastic music from Ben and David in 10 J.

A touching tribute was paid to our very own Librarian, Mrs Cullen, by Leo Mulholland. Meanwhile, the year 11’s showed off their superior skill  and  knowledge  with some original, funny or poignant twists on this year’s theme of Messages, and quite a few of our Poetry Aloud entrants warmed up for the Regional Heats by reciting the prescribed poems.

A special thanks goes to our colleague, Mrs Mc Cool who yet again demonstrated what a terrific poet she is with her well – crafted piece on the theme of messages.

Well done to all who participated in the Open Mic, good luck to our Poetry Aloud entrants and those who have entered the Busta Rhyme competition.
