They were part of Sentinus Team R&D for the last year where they were working on a real life problem provided by Phoenix Gas. The team worked with Andrew Lyle, an engineer from Phoenix Gas on designing a practical solution to preventing the Tap-T Junction from being destroyed during renovation work. This involved site visits to analyse the problem and to test and evaluate their solution. They produced a comprehensive 100 pages report which involved research, generating a range of ideas, developing their idea into a practical solution and then testing and evaluating this onsite. The team were put through rigorous questioning by two teams of judges and were duly awarded their Gold Crest Awards. Feedback from the judges was that they had produced a very professional report and presentation worthy of high commendation. Their report and practical project is available to see in the Technology & Design department. We wish to thank Mr Duffy for his invaluable advice and Phoenix Gas for their support. Phoenix Gas were very impressed with the team’s solution and they are to present their solution to them in the near future. The team presented themselves in a very professional manner. We are very proud of our future engineers!
